Mentorship is a huge part of our youth ministry at LICRC. Because we believe in mentorship so strongly, youth are split up into age and gender and are given their own youth leader(s). For example, the grade 8 girls have their own Youth Leader. The grade 10 boys have 2 leaders, as do the grade 12 girls. These are our Youth Ministry’s Small Groups. Though these Youth Leaders will meet with their Small Groups on their own time, 20/20 is time allotted by the church for more Small Group/Mentorship.
20/20 meets every first Sunday of the month during the evening service. During this time, the Youth Leaders will get together with their small groups and discuss whatever they want. Topics in the past have included: Going through the book of Ruth, Christian Perspectives on Current events, finding their identities in Christ, Time Capsules, Personality Tests, or anything else that the Youth Leaders may deem as relevant to their own specific small group.
20/20 allows for relationships between youth and leader as well as youth and their peers to grow. The leaders love the time given to them to foster these relationships and the youth love the time allotted to them to spend with their leaders. 20/20 is a foundational pillar for the mentorship ministry which is still being developed at LICRC. If you have a youth who is in need of a mentorship ministry like this, please contact our Youth Pastor
