Whether they are special or not is up for debate, but the Youth Ministry at our church is more than just Youth Education and Mentorship. Every Month we aim to provide 4 events outside of the Sunday Evening Service. These events happen at unspecific times and include the following:
1) Outreach Projects – Every month our youth get together and do something for someone. Some outreach projects in the past include: Serving the residents at The Orchard by doing yard work, throwing a Christmas Party for some children in need, Throwing a Car Wash and raising money for friends in need, housework, yard work, or meal-making for people in and outside of our congregation, and just anything we can think of that would serve other people.
2) Worship Nights – On the last Sunday of the month after Youth Education, we get together as youth and just sing praises to God. Sometimes this happens at a member of our congregation’s house (during the ‘nice-weather’ months) and otherwise happens inside the church. All are welcome to join us!
3) Youth Coffee – After the Morning Service on the first Sunday of the month, all youth are invited over to someone’s house for youth Coffee. There, games are played, food is eaten, and fun is had. It’s great for the youth to get together in this environment with their youth leaders, and it’s good for those in the congregation who open their doors to us to get to know the youth, their leaders and get a little taste of the youth ministry at LICRC
4) A Random Fun Event – Sometimes, we just want to have fun! That is why, once a month, we get out and just do something awesome. Whether it’s Tubing at Cypress, Camping at KawKawa Lake, Going to BC Lions Football Games, or doing one of the MANY weird and outrageous games the youth leaders think of, these events always provide stories to be told later. Food and Small Group time are often included and fun is always had by all.
On top of these events, and 20/20 and youth Education, random fundraisers for our annual Mexico Mission’s Trip also happen. Really, the best way to keep up with the happenings of our youth is come on out and talk to the leaders!
